Tropical Storm Harvey struggled today, weakening into a tropical depression earlier this afternoon. Since then, a reconnaissance aircraft investigated the storm and was unable to close off a well-defined center of circulation.  The National Hurricane Center (NHC) downgraded Harvey to a remnant low at 11:00 p.m. EDT.

As of 11:00 p.m. EDT Saturday, the Remnants of Harvey were centered near 14.3°N 71.8°W, and was moving westward at about 22 mph. Maximum sustained winds were 30 knots (35 mph), with an estimated minimum pressure of 1007 mb. The remnants of Harvey have continued to lose organization this evening, with the remaining deep convection decreasing. It is unclear if Harvey’s remnants will be able to regenerate. Earlier today, global models predicted that Harvey would likely regenerate in the Bay of Campeche. Despite conditions expected to become more favorable, they have recently backed off that idea and are now suggesting that it is very possible that Harvey may dissipate during the next couple of days. Regardless, the remnants of Harvey will be watched for possible regeneration.

I will be back tomorrow with another post.
